900 High School Students Plant 1,200 Trees in Joplin and Duquesne

JOPLIN, MO--They raised $25,000 through various fundraisers to purchase, and plant, 1,200 trees for residents living in the disaster zone. Root For Joplin Organizer Randon Coffey says the volunteers were surprised at how few trees are left in the area. "They know that they aren't going to come in and change the city in a day." Coffey explains. "But they really are starting to get a perspective on what Joplin's had to go through."
The group also donated $5,000 to the Joplin School District to be used for the landscaping of the new Joplin High School.
