Joplin Receives Tree Donation

JOPLIN, MO.--- The City of Joplin receives a donation of 900 trees to replace the ones lost in the tornado. The donation came from various groups throughout the country. The Joplin Parks and Recreations Department is still distributing trees nearly 2 years after the tornado and has already replaced thousands.

The trees are available to anyone who lost them in the tornado. A homeowner is given 3 trees and volunteers can help you plant them. Organizers say planting trees has now become a priority to many.

"You got to take care of people first, then get a home to live into. So, the trees come when your house is ready, spend some time watering that tree, especially if we had a summer like we had last year," said Ric Mayer, Joplin Tree Recovery.

You can apply for a tree at the Joplin Park Office located at 310 west 1st Street in Joplin during normal business hours.
