Part of a busy Kansas Highway will close for about two months.

Both lanes of US 69A, in front of Baxter Springs High School will be underconstruction starting June 6th.

Kansas Department of Transportation Crews are going to repair the bridge supporting that roadway.

A detour will reroute drivers to US 400.

"Kind of worked with the Baxter school to get in there and close the road so that way it'll open before the start of school. Hopefully everything will go according to plan," says Chris Poss with KDOT.

US 69A will re-open to drivers in mid-August when the bridge project is set to be complete.
