JOPLIN, MO.--- A new study by British Medical Journal "The Lancet" reports obesity is the leading cause for disabilities around the world. Doctors are seeing more people suffering with diabetes and heart problems.

About 500 researchers from 50 countries compared health data from 1990 to 2010 and found a 82% increase in obesity rate among those countries.

"A lot of countries are moving away from their traditional eating habits and eating one of the 'Western Style', convenient fast foods," states Kristin Woodruff, Certified Dietitian.

Doctors say everyone can do their part in reducing obesity by eating healthier and exercising more frequently.
