NEOSHO -- Hundreds of children hit the courts Saturday as part of "Upward Basketball," hosted by First Baptist Church and the United Methodist Church in Neosho. This is the seventh year for the program, with 192 kids signed up to play. Organizers say the eight week basketball league focuses on team work and sportsmanship rather than competition.

"Not necessarily to make great basketball players, but to help them have the tolls to be better human beings, to learn more abut Jesus, and learn a little bit about basketball without the real stiff competition," says Upward Basketball coordinator Kevin Hoskins. "

If you would like to volunteer to help with Upward Basketball or want to sign your child up to play in next year's program, contact the First Baptist Church in Neosho.
