JOPLIN, MO.--- Workers with the Missouri Public Service Commission, Missouri American Water, and Empire District Electric Company hammered away this morning. They helped build a shed and install walls for the future home of the Roper family. Volunteers also built sheds for homes in the "Governor's Habitat Challenge" areas. The project is spearheaded by a national utility organization to honor "Martin Luther King Junior's Day of Service."

"I find it to be a privilege to give back and help out. So, we're very excited and pleased to be a part of this service," says Robert Kenney, MPSC Commissioner.

"We do want them to know that we care about them and that they do have a home," says Patsy Mulbenay, Empire District Employee.

A total of 20 utility workers participated in the project.
