JOPLIN, MO.--- IRS representatives say certain people can receive up to 6,000 through the earned income tax credit. The IRS urges taxpayers who earn less than $50,000 to check if they qualify. Qualifying applicants with 3 children can earn up to $6,000 in tax credit.

"This is a very big credit. In Missouri last year, it was worth $1.1 billion to about 500,000 tax payers," said Michael Devine, IRS Media Relations Agent.

To check if you are eligible for the earned income tax credit you can log on to the IRS website or ask your tax consultant. You can start filing your taxes on January 30th.
