JOPLIN -- The Midwest Regional Ballet will be providing the pre-show and half time show entertainment for a Harlem Globe Trotters game. The dancers were selected because of their ability to do aerial ballet, hanging from silk cloths. The event will be this Wednesday at the Leggett and Platt Athletic Center at Missouri Southern State University. The troupe will be performing a mix of hip-hop and aerial ballet, which choreographers say is no easy task.

"This is the first time they've ever climbed the silks in sneakers, which makes it hard to feel what the silk is doing on their feet because usually you're barefoot," says artistic director Kaye Lewis. "So we've had a little more time practicing the aerial stuff but really the kids are used to picking up stuff really fast."

The pre-show will start at 6:15PM Wednesday, and the game will begin at 7PM. Tickets can be purchased at the door.
