ANDERSON, MO.--- Anderson City Council members say unlicensed merchants were taking over a public park at 4th Street and Highway 59. They were receiving numerous complaints from residents, some were reporting one peddler was also dealing drugs. Mayor John Sellers has instructed police officers to make sure every salesman within city limits has a license to conduct business.

"If somebody is engaging in business in Anderson, I feel that we have a duty to determine who they are, what they're selling, and do they have a criminal history of any sort," said John Sellers, Anderson Mayor.

City leaders are allowing people to purchase peddling licenses, but they must first be approved by the chief of police.
