Most of the employees offered a buyout were 62 years old or older and have worked at a Kansas Board of Regents institution for at least ten years.
Of those offered a buyout, 149 people expressed interest.
If approved, those employees will receive a lump-sum payment equal to one year's salary up to $100,000.
University administrators have until June 1 to approve the buyout plan.
