JOPLIN, MO.--Have you ever wanted to fly an airplane? Here's your chance.

The Civil Air Patrol held their first open house this afternoon.

The U.S. Air Force Auxiliary is taking applicants as young as 12 to join their aerospace programs .

There they teach everything from flying, emergency services, aerospace education, and even search and rescue.

Aerospace officers say the program will give you hands on experience to what you learn in the classroom.

Aerospace Education Officer Ernie Trumbly says,

"Earth science is part of aerospace education and stuff like that..we have so many different programs for both senior members and cadets-theirs education, there's enjoyment, there's fun...why not."

If you want to join the program as a cadet you have to be between the ages of 12 and 18.

If you're an adult you can join as a senior member.

Their meetings are every Tuesday night at 6:30 to 8:30 at the old Joplin Airport Terminal right across from the FEMA housing units.
