Pittsburg Disc Golf

PITTSBURG, KS.--- Shallenger Park is now the home of a brand new 18 hole disc golf course. The baskets for the discs cost a total of $11,000. The city was able to pay for the equipment through a $10,000 grant from the Kansas Health Foundation and a $1,000 grant from Live Well Crawford County. City officials say they hope the new course will help bring more adults to the park.

"This is really what we're hoping to draw to the park and to the area, and to give the adults another form of play, so to speak," states Kim Vogel, Pittsburg Parks and Recreations.

The park was completed just in time for the 3rd annual Pittsburg Disc Golf Tournament beginning tomorrow. Organizers say they're expecting dozens of competitors this year, including national professionals.
