Pitt State and MSSU off to 3-0 starts

Pitt State fell behind 7-0 in the first quarter to Southwest Baptist, but the Gorillas bounced back in a hurry scoring 52 unanswered points, including 28 within five minutes. Anthony Abenoja had another solid outing passing for 259 yards and two touchdowns. His favorite target John Brown continued to put up big numbers as well hauling in 6 passes for 119 yards and a touchdown.

As for Missouri Southern, they pulled out a tough road win in Jefferson City over the Lincoln Blue Tigers. The Lions overcame four first half turnovers to win 21-14. Kellen Cox led the way rushing again as he piled up 147 yards and scored all three Lions touchdowns.

Locally, the Southern Stampede made its way through the MoSo campus despite the wet conditions in Joplin. The Lions' men's team finished second overall. Meanwhile, the Gorillas men's came in at seventh. As for the women's teams, MSSU finished third and PSU fifth.
