Pitt State talked all week about not overlooking Lincoln, despite their the Blue Tigers' 0-3 record. Saturday night, the Gorillas stood true to their word with a 59-17 win in front of a completely sold out Carnie Smith Stadium, and it was a complete team effort. The Gorillas opened with a blocked punt recovered by Nate Dreiling in the endzone for their first touchdown. Then came Briceton Wilson, who led the team with 69 yards on the ground and three scores. Throw in a 68 yard punt return from John Brown, and the Gorillas couldn't ask for a much better game.

Across the border in Joplin, Missouri Southern was not so fortunate. The Lions shot themselves in the foot with a lot of costly penalties that forced their offense into some tough 3rd and long situations. Kellen Cox had another 100+ yard game on the ground and the Lions' only offensive touchdown. N'Ronte Threatt and the special teams contributed a punt return touchdown, but it wouldn't be enough. MoSo came up short with a 16-13 loss at home.
