A park ranger discussed how carver equipped his first lab at the Tuskege Institute with items from a trash dump and made artwork from soil components. Afterwards, guests made dolls from re-used cornhusks and plant fibers to showcase the beauty that can come from re-usable items.
"I think a lot of people just take it for granted and just throw things away that they can reuse again," says Park Ranger Curtis Gregory. "Carver was definitely an advocate of never throwing anything away and that there's always a use for something," Gregory explains.
The next Coffee with Carver event is Thursday March 21st.
