Outlaws At Speedway

Updated: January 7, 2009
Friday night, the World of Outlaws returned to the 66 Speedway, and while seeing drivers like Mark and Steve Kinser is always a treat, race fans had another reason to come to the track, as Winston Cup driver Kenny Schrader was scheduled to drive in the modified competition. Racing was expected to get underway around 7:00pm, but the start time was pushed back due to soupy track conditions. When the 3/8 of a mile oval was ready, the Outlaws took to the track and put on quite a show, eclipsing speeds of around 120 miles per hour, and breaking the track record in qualifying for times, led by Steve Smith who completed one lap in 13.3 seconds.
