BOLIVAR, Mo. -- Junior forward Dacie Reutlinger hit a layup with seven-tenths of a second left, capping a game-ending 11-0 run for Missouri Southern in 69-67 victory at Southwest Baptist on Saturday. Southwest Baptist`s last field goal, a three-pointer, came with 3:33 to play and put the Lady Bearcats up by nine, 67-58. Senior Aubrie Hallman responded with a three of her own to kick off the game-winning rally. After misses by SBU`s Jennifer Clymore and MSSU`s Hallman, Reutlinger drilled two free throws with 2:04 left. A steal by Katie Deen set up Southern`s next possession, which saw senior Vonny Wilson snare an offensive board and score on a putback with 1:24 to go, cutting the SBU lead to two, 67-65. Hallman made two free throws with 41 seconds on the clock to tie the score. The Lady Bearcats misfired on their final possession and, after a timeout, Hallman misfired on a jumper. But Reutlinger grabbed the offensive board and scored the winning bucket. Reutlinger finished with 17 points, on 7-of-10 shooting from the field, and nine rebounds as one of three Lions in double figures. Hallman led the way with 19 points, while Wilson charted 18. Southwest Baptist led for the bulk of the game, including by as many as 12 with 4:44 to go in the first half. Southern got old-fashioned three-point plays from Hallman and Reutlinger before back-to-back three-pointers from Deen marked a 12-5 run that chipped the Lady Bearcat lead to five at halftime. That run swelled to a 24-9 spurt for Southern, spanning halftime, that put the Lions in front 46-43, with 3:37 gone after intermission. SBU outscored the Lions 10-2 over the next 3:20, taking a lead they`d hold until the closing seconds. Jenny Miller had 12 points and five assists to lead the Lady Bearcats. Clymore and Gwyn Smith each had 10 points, with Smith charting nine boards.
