Scrivner named player of the week

Scrivner Named MIAA Player of the Week KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Pittsburg State University forward Kami Scrivner was named the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association Player of the Week today (Feb. 15) for her play for the Gorillas last week. Scrivner, a 5-foot-10 senior from Mount Vernon, Mo., averaged 19.0 points, 8.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.5 steals as the Gorillas went 2-0 last week. After being held scoreless in the first half at Missouri Western Wednesday (Feb. 9), Scrivner scored 18 second-half points and helped Pitt State rally from a 21-point deficit for a 75-72 victory. It was Pitt States first win in St. Joseph since 1993. After starting out 0-for-4 from the field, she finished 8-of-14 for the game, and made both of her free throw tries. Scrivner also added eight rebounds and three assists. For the second time this season against Northwest Missouri State, Scrivner scored the deciding points in the final 10 seconds as Pitt State downed the Bearcats, 57-56, Saturday (Feb. 12). Her two free throws with 7.8 seconds capped a 20-point, nine-rebound effort against Northwest. She also added three assists, two steals and a blocked shot. Scrivner is a graduate of Mount Vernon High School.
