breaking news
Supporters for field turf at Junge stadium, the home of the Joplin Eagls, are disappointed tonight. They were hoping the school board would take action that would begin the process to install the turf in time for this falls football season but that did not happen.
Instead the school board voted 4-3 to seek competive bids for the project. There was concern among some of the board members that not enough research had been done in this issue. The project would cost around 800-thousand dollars. Field turf has secured a state bid and an anonymous underwriter would finance three-hundred seventy-five thousand dollars of the projects cost. Now there is still a chance field turf could be done in time for this football season, but it depends on how fast the bid process takes.
