NEVADA, MO - After weather related incidents last night in Nevada, the Vernon County Office of Emergency Management is watching the skies closely for more thunderstorms tonight. Rain gauges and radar estimates indicate that some areas of Nevada got between 3 and 6 inches of rain just last night, and more is expected to fall this evening.

The Nevada Fire Department responded to several lightening related calls last night as storms passed through the area. Authorities say they were all "minor incidents.

"We had a reported possible house fire, we had transformers that were hit, of course several of the streets were flooded," said Dennis Kimrey, Director of the Vernon County Office of Emergency Management.

The reported fire was just a spark and was out when crews arrived. Emergency Management Officials remind people to stay home and avoid back roads whenever there is heavy rainfall or flood warnings.
