JOPLIN, MO-- Joplin tornado victims should expect to start seeing letters from the city as workers start finalizing paperwork from the debris removal process. The letters ask for insurance information as well as any paperwork related to hiring a contractor, or paying from demolition or debris removal. At issue is whether anyone signed the right of entry forms to accept government clean up help but then pocketed insurance money that was meant to pay for the clean up.

Joplin City Spokesperson Lynn Onstot said, "The end result is to find out if there's a duplication of benefits. Obviously if you received the Expedited Debris Removal, you had services taken care of but yet you received an insurance payment. There does need to be some sort of reconciliation to that."

The reconciliation is required by FEMA as part of its disaster funding. The paperwork is due back to the City of Joplin by May 31st.
