Nevada Police Track Down Active Meth Lab Thanks to Tips from Residents

"I've been smelling foul odor in the area and it was pretty obvious to me what was going on," neighbor Clay Gerling says.
Nevada resident Clay Gerling says he's had enough.
He's thrilled the Nevada Police Department busted his neighbor for making and selling meth.
"They need to be off our streets," Gerling says. "My concern is the woman and children that reside here."
Nevada Police say it's a priority to keep meth off the streets.
In this case, police arrested 56-year-old Edward Curtis for possession of 35 grams or marijuana and manufacturing and producing meth within 2,000 feet of a school.
Officers say they see a positive shift in the way residents interact with the department.
"A lot of has to come from citizens giving us info," Nevada Police Officer John Millard says. "We've had a lot of people call in to the police department, a lot of people didn't know they could call and not leaving their name."
With just 16 officers in a community of more than 10,000, outside help is crucial.
The more knowledge officers can get, they say the less crime they will have on the streets.
Police say the number of meth labs has gone down in nevada and they're hoping to make even more of an impact.
