JOPLIN, MO.--- The Tri State Water Resource Coalition has been working to increase capacity for regional water plants. The group has looked at everything from piping water in from Stockton Lake to building a new reservoir. Now a change in federal law will allow outside funding to help the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, study potential water projects.

"Finding a way where we can make the public private partnership more successful is definitely one way in my opinion that we're going to get something done quicker and be able to better serve the communities in this area," states Christie Barnhart, Missouri American Water Company.

The Tri State Water Resource Coalition involves member agencies ranging from Joplin and Lamar to Monett and Springfield.
