Pitt State took the fight to Central Oklahoma this week in a 34-19 win. Gorilla quarterback Anthony Abenoja showed his versatility passing for 296 yards with one touchdown and an interception to go along with his two touchdowns on the ground as well.

In Joplin, Missouri Southern prevailed in another hard-fought game 27-21 over Northeastern State. The Lions stuck to their formula of controlling the clock and forcing some key turnovers. Senior quarterback Kellen Cox rushed for 108 and a touchdown. Running back Ne'Ronte Threatt added two touchdowns as well.

As for Saturday's high school action, Carl Junction picked up their first win of the year with a 36-0 win over East Newton. Ash Grove defeated Diamond 36-14.

And amidst all this great football, there was still high school softball in the four states. Webb City's young Cardinal team defeated the Joplin Eagles 6-2. Emily Harris cranked a three-run homer in the 5th inning to put Webb City into the driver seat for good.
