WEBB CITY, MO.---  Callie Snyder usually drops her little sister Emily off at school. A recent change to the Webb City High School parking lots has made her commute a little different.

"We usually just dropped her off at the pool doors because it was easier for me to go to school that way. But right now since we have to use this lot, it makes it kind of a hassle because everyone is using this lot so it makes it more crowded," states Callie Snyder, Drops Sister Off at School.

School administrators converted the parking lot on the North side of the building to a bus only turn around and faculty parking area, meaning that site is no longer a parent drop off spot.

"The bus drivers, whenever they would use the North lot there was a blind spot there where kids leave the building. And when they leave obviously they are in a hurry to get out of here at the end of the day and it presented some issues with our bus drivers and it was really a student safety concern more than anything," states Shawn Mayes, WCHS Assistant Principal.

It's a preventative measure school administrators say makes bus drivers feel more confident.

"I know that our drivers really like it and for them, we were fortunate that nothing ever happened where it used to be so for them I think it takes a little bit of pressure off of them, they've got enough pressure on them," states Mayes.

While the change makes for a lot of happy bus drivers, those making the drop off are still adjusting.

"It used to be a little shorter before, but now since everyone's using this a lot, it makes it a lot harder and so it's a lot longer," states Callie.

However, Callie adds she doesn't mind the extra drive time if it means students like her little sister can get to and from school a little easier.

"Yeah, I agree it's a lot better because it's a lot safer for kids. Plus if there is buses over there we don't want the bus driver to not see a kid and get hit," states Callie.

Converting the North parking lot also added an additional 50 spaces for faculty use only.
