Joplin's Redevelopment Corporation Stop Projects

JOPLIN, MO.--- Joplin's Redevelopment Corporation members decided not to take any further action on their plans until they secure liability insurance. According to the city attorney, the hold up is due to previous insurers not working out and they are in the process of finding a suitable insurer.
He also says members never had a need for insurance before. Since they will now be owning properties, they need to protect their assets.
"They will be holding property. So, we want to ensure that if, at any point, someone goes onto a property that they own, trips and falls, falls in a whole, something like that and gets injured, that there is some insurance coverage," says Brian Head, Joplin City Attorney.
The city attorney hopes to find an insurer and get back to business as usual within the next week.
