PITTSBURG, KS.--- The official ground breaking for the new Center for the Arts building at Pittsburg State University was held this morning. Once completed, the building will serve in many roles, including community performances. Administrators say adding the new facility is about making sure students receive a well-rounded education.

"We're know for our academics, we're know for our athletics. I think now, we can bring the cultural aspects of the institution to the forefront. I think that's what's going to allow this building to be seen so differently, and will make a difference over the decades to come," said Dr. Steven Scott, P.S.U. President.

Contractors plan to have the building completed in the fall of 2014
