JOPLIN, MO.--- More than 30 women took to the streets of downtown Joplin to raise awareness for women who are victims of violence. The flash mob was a staged dance to represent the international movement to "Break The Chain" from brutality.

The group danced to a choreographed routine outside the Joplin Library on Main Street with the goal of inspiring 1 billion women across the country to stand up and dance.

"Things happen and you become real contracted, and this is a way to say 'open up and be who you are, because we're beautiful,'" says Stacey Sarakins, Flash Mob Coordinator.

The campaign's website estimates that 1 out of every 3 women, or about 1 billion on the planet, will fall victim to violence. To visit their website, click here.
