FAFSA Frenzy

JOPLIN -- Missouri Southern State University joined 30 other Missouri colleges Sunday in hosting "FAFSA Frenzy." The free application for federal student aid is required by the US Department of Education, which will disperse $150 billion this year to help students pay for school. Counselors and administrators from several four state colleges were on hand to help parents and students with the process. Organizers say filling out the FAFSA can be a daunting task.
"I think sometimes they see it as a complicated thing, because it's new and there are a series of questions that are complex, depending on the family situation and their financial information that has to be provided," says MSSU Director of Financial Aid Becca Diskin. "But that's what we're here to help with, so they don't see it as a difficult process."
If you are an upcoming college student, and would like help filling out the FAFSA, MSSU administrators recommend contacting your financial aid counselor at the school you are planning to attend.
