JOPLIN, MO.--- 3 students at Joplin High School will host a chili cook off for cancer research. The organizers were inspired by their friend and classmate, Cooper Vocelka. He's been battling brain cancer since he was 13-years-old.

The money raised will go towards patient treatment and to help researchers find a possible cure. Emily Watson says Cooper's selflessness has made an impact on many, so they want to do something that will benefit him.

"Anyway that we can help him get the goal that he wants for others, to help raise money and awareness for other brain cancer research. To help them prevent going through what he's gone through is really his goal, and we're just trying to help him in that, and be his extra set of hands," said Emily Watson, Joplin High School.

The cook off is open to everyone, next Sunday, March 10th from noon until 2 p.m. In the Family Life Center at First United Methodist Church in Joplin. You can find more information by clicking here.
