The Pittsburg State men's basketball team will be taking plenty of momentum to the post-season. The week started with a win Wednesday over MSSU and finished with an 82-55 beat-down of Emporia State to close the regular season at home. They'll host Truman in their MIAA Tournament opener Monday at John Lance Arena.

However, the women will have to make a quick turnaround before their conference tournament opener Tuesday against Missouri Western at home. The Gorillas lost their last two home games to MSSU and Emporia State.

At the high school ranks, Carl Junction completed one heck of a district tournament at Carthage to win their first Class 4, District 12 Title. It took overtime games against Webb City and the host Carthage in the finals to pull it off. The Bulldogs will meet Republic in sectionals.

Meanwhile, the Webb City girls got revenge on Carthage from a season ago. The Lady Cardinals won the Class 4, District 12 Title 49-42. They'll face West Plains in sectionals.

Across the border in Kansas, St. Mary's-Colgan won their 17th straight Sub-State to advance to state in Hutchinson, KS. They defeated the top seed Riverton 74-54.

Further north in Fort Scott, the boys fell to Anderson County, but the girls defeated Frontenac to win their 4A Sub-State Title.
