JOPLIN, MO.--- Jasper County commissioners approve a contract to add another full time sheriff's deputy in the Village of Airport Drive. The Village contracts law enforcement with the county, so it doesn't have to maintain its own police force. The additional deputy will be able to enforce the Village's ordinances throughout evening hours.

"In the evening time, we have a lot of violations as well as in the day, and thought it would be good for the residents to be able to depend on someone during the evening as well as during the day," said Sgt. Melissa Roughton, Jasper County Sheriff's Deputy.

The sheriff's office expects to have the additional deputy on duty by April 1st.
