ARKANSAS--- The Arkansas House votes to override Governor Mike Beebe's veto of the 12-week abortion ban. The vote was 56 to 33 in favor of overriding the veto. The law won't take effect for 90 days, after the end of the session late summer.

Arkansas now has the most restrictive abortion law in the nation and sets up the sharpest challenge to Roe vs. Wade 40 years ago. The American Civil Liberties Union says the 12-week abortion law is headed to federal court and an eventual overturn. This is an outcome one Arkansas Senator hope to avoid.

Senator Jason Rapert says, " The eyes of this nation has been on the Arkansas House of Representatives today. And the eyes of this nation has seen that people are ready for a change".

The governor's office saying it knew another override was likely, but Beebe wanted to block a law he viewed unconstitutional and costly to defend.
