PITTSBURG, KS.--- Crawford County hosts a day long seminar over the legal response to domestic violence. Dozens of attorneys, police officers and case workers gathered at Memorial Hall in Pittsburg for the session.

The Osage County attorney gave a presentation on handling domestic cases in the courtroom. Those who attended also heard from a spokeswoman from the National Center for Victims of Crime in Washington D.C. Her presentation was about stalking and working with stalking victims.

"You don't want to get too complacent in prosecuting cases and in many instances in domestic violence cases the complacent witness will not want to pursue charges, so it's nice to understand the role and the bigger picture," said Jennifer Brunetti, Frontenac City Attorney.

According to statistics more than 6 million people are victims of domestic violence or stalking each year.
