Nascar Recap

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
Through the first five races of the Nascar season, no driver has been hotter than Sterling Marlin. Sunday at Darlington, Marlin won for the second time this season, and if he`d just stayed in his car during a red flag in the Daytona 500, he probably would have won that race as well. As a result, Marlin is the early points leader, and if can continue his early season success, he could capture his first ever Winston Cup points title. On the other end of the spectrum is Dale Jarrett, who yesterday suffered his second DNF of the young season. If Jarrett is to compete for the points title, which he won in 1999, he`ll have to climb out of 21st place. Here is a look at the top five in points so far: Nascar Winston Cup Point Standings 1.Sterling Marlin 825 2.Ryan Newman 726 3.Matt Kenseth 682 4.Rusty Wallace 677 5.Jimmie Johnson 667
