Via Christi Contributes To Area Communities
The health system provided more than $46 million in charity care, meaning that money paid for at least a portion of many patients health care costs.
Other funds covered unpaid medicaid costs and community programs including health screenings and health awareness campaigns.
"It is one of the things we pride ourselves on. As a matter of fact, if you look at our mission statement, it is to act as a healing presence for our neighbors who are most vulnerable," states Michael Hayslip, Via Christi, Pittsburg Representative.
The funds also helped train physicians and nurses in Kansas and Northeast Oklahoma.
