Cardinal Caravan
JOPLIN -- Hundreds gathered at Missouri Southern State University Saturday to welcome the St. Louis Cardinals Caravan to town. Fans for the chance to talk baseball with players, prospects and alumni. pictures and autographs were also a part of the day. Players say they are thankful so many fans showed up to support cardinal nation.
"It's fun to get to reach out to all of the kids and sign some autographs for the fans," says Cardinals pitcher Shelby Miller. "That's what it's all about and I'm enjoying my time."
"Seeing these fan bases in a time where it's almost spring training but not quite," says hitting coach John Mabry. "It's a cold January day and folks are getting revved up for the seaseon. It's cool to see, and it's cool to be a part of Cardinal nation."
Other caravans are heading to Springfield, Rolla and Hannibal.
