JOPLIN, MO.--- The 2013 Golden Apple Award recognizes exceptional teachers in grades K through 12. Students, teachers, and even other faculty members can write letters nominating any educator who has made a profound impact on their lives.

The Joplin Chamber of Commerce partners with Empire District Electric and Missouri Southern to present this annual award.

"A lot of our teachers don't get all the acknowledgment that they need and all the credit they need. They take care of those kids everyday all year long and its a nice way to just say thank you to them," said Valerie Searcy, Award Committee Chair.

You can drop off nominations at the Joplin Chamber of Commerce. They must be submitted by February 4th.
