JOPLIN, MO--- "Show Me Gold" stands for guard, officer, leadership development course. The four year program in cooperation with the Missouri National Guard trains qualified officers to serve in the state of Missouri. It's similar to R.O.T.C. in many ways, except you are nondeployable the entire time. Anyone can register. Captain Amanda Self is in charge of the program, and she says there's a place for everyone.
"We're very motivated to work with people and students that just don't know exactly what they want to do, because we will have a place for them as along as they work hard, and they're challenged by the program," says Self.
Classes for the "Show Me Gold" program start next Fall semester. Registration begins in April.
