Integris Health New Identity System
MIAMI, OK.--- Integris Health in Miami and Grove add new technology to help protect patients from identity fraud. The "Patient Secure" scanner extracts the pattern of a patient's palm veins. Integris is using it to help identify patients without their documentation.
The receptionist will scan a patient's palm the first time he or she checks in to an Integris Hospital, all of their medical information will be connected to their vein pattern. On future visits, the patient will simply scan their palm.
"Throughout the United States, there's been reported one and a half million cases of medical identity fraud resulting in about 30 million dollars in cost to patients. This ensures that no one else can use their identity," states Connie Proctor, Integris Health Registration Director.
The palm vein scan also helps prevent confusion with medical records when there is more than one patient with the same name in the system.
