Minimum Wage Increase Debate
PITTSBURG, KS.--- Pittsburg State University Economics Professor Chuck Fischer says both Republicans and Democrats are right when it comes to raising minimum wage. President Obama has proposed increasing the minimum level of pay from $7.25 an hour to $9 an hour.
Democrats believe this will help put more money into the pockets of the poorest working Americans, while Republicans believe it could lead to higher inflation and loss of jobs. Fischer says the pros and cons of the issue will have to weighed by law makers, and the current state of economy will have to be taken into account before any decision is made.
