Carl Junction Students Missouri Day
CARL JUNCTION, MO.--- From Civil War heroes like Robert E. Lee to how the bison contributed to Native American survival, Carl Junction 4th graders students were able to get their noses out of the books for Missouri Day.
Students was able to interact with things and people they've been reading about for the past year. The kids rotated through the classes, each station focused on a different Missouri fact. For students and teachers, today's fun event was the culmination of a lot of hard work.
"There's more to Robert E. Lee than just a southern general, he was more than just a military man. He was an educator, a very principled man," states Robert E. Lee, Character Actor.
The students may be little, but they think big.
"My favorite part was learning about Robert E. Lee in the Civil War classroom. Robert E. Lee was with the south and he was against slavery, but he still fought for the south," states Ethan Howard, 4th Grade.
Other individuals served as state symbols, state hobbies, and even state minerals.
"Learning about the minerals, it's been my favorite part because we get to see why there are a lot of minerals and how they are formed," states Brynneria, 4th Grade.
Some advice from yesterday's leaders to the future leaders of tomorrow.
"Learn that whether people call you a loser, in my case as Robert E. Lee, losing the Civil War. If you have Christian character, you're a winner," said Robert E. Lee, Character Actor.
George Washington Carver and a fiddle player also visited the kids today, as well as a variety of snakes found in Missouri.
