Joplin Forward Dinner

JOPLIN, MO.--- Community members and business leaders take a look into the future of Joplin's economy. Tonight Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce hosted a dinner called Joplin Forward. Hundreds of people heard from Master Developer David Wallace on how the proposed building projects will improve the city.

Tulane University Economics Professor Peter Ricchiuti also spoke to the crowd. He sees many similarities between New Orleans and Joplin when it comes to recovering from a natural disaster.

"I think there's a feeling sometimes that once the storm is over, people have forgotten about you. Nobody's forgotten about New Orleans, nobody has forgotten about Joplin, this is a great opportunity to turn the corner," says Peter Ricchiuti, Economics Professor, Tulane University.

We could soon know more about some of those proposed projects. City officials say they hope to find out if the new medical school will be approved by the beginning of April.
