Lines Already Forming Ahead Of Black Friday
JOPLIN, MO -- Stuffed Turkey, mashed potatoes, and gravy is the way some spend a traditional Thanksgiving. But for shoppers hungry for the best deals, the creature comforts of life can be put aside for a day. Joseph Bowman traveled with two friends from Welch, Oklahoma and set up camp around noon today outside of the Best Buy in Joplin. He says he's ready for the long wait, to get some great deals. "Some buddy's of mine are going to come up here, and we're just going to hang out and play some games." Bowman explains. "Just wait for Black Friday to open up."
And he came prepared with sleeping bags, a tent, and plenty of refreshments to brave what Mother Nature may have in store. But Bowman couldn't take the long hours of waiting, without the support of his wife. "She rings me food, comes down here let's me go home and get cleaned up." He explains. "She holds my spot for me."
17 year old Bryant Wilson, of Nevada, waiting was a chance for his buddy's to get together. "We just kind of had this planned out the past couple days to come up here and hang out."
Hanging out in anticipation for midnight tomorrow night, known as Black Friday. Best Buy Shawn Giddens says it's a long process getting the store ready for all of the midnight shoppers. "We spend about 3 months planning for this one day of the year." A day Giddens calls 'controlled chaos'.
For some people it was the lure of a cheap T.V, or a deal on a video game system. But maybe these early shoppers are just in it for the adventure. Bowman says it's all about trying something new. "Thanksgiving is great, but I've done Thanksgiving 30 times before."
Retail experts say more than 150 Million people will shop this weekend.
