DWI Holiday Enforcement
DUQUESNE, MO.--- Police in Duquesne will increase patrol routes beginning today through December 16th. It's part of a national holiday DWI enforcement campaign to stop people from driving impaired this holiday season. Police Chief Tommy Kitch says his officers will especially focus on 7th and 20th streets, and may have a possible DWI checkpoint at some time during the week.
"If you get the word out, like we are doing right now, at least people might think a little bit before they get behind the wheel in a impaired state and possible call somebody and have them pick them up. Make other arrangements, spend the night, or do anything you need to do, but don't drive intoxicated or impaired," states Tommy Kitch, Duquesne Police Chief.
In 2011, 234 people were killed on Missouri highways and 945 were seriously injured in crashes involving an impaired driver.
