CHEROKEE COUNTY, KS---  A morning fire engulfs a Cherokee County home leaving one person dead.

The blaze broke just after five this morning at the home located at 51 Northeast Teal Lane.

A neighbor we spoke with says she called 911 after a passerby warned her of the fire.

The house was completely in flames when the sheriff's office arrived at the scene.

Columbus, Weir and West mineral firefighters battled the blaze.

They found one person dead in the home but are not releasing the gender or name at this moment.

The body was taken to Kansas City for an Autopsy.

Authorities expect to know the cause of death by tomorrow.

"There's no indication that there was any foul play involved but then again it is early on in the investigation and we're being as thorough as we can,"says cherokee county sheriff david groves.

Neighbors told us an older man lived in the home alone. However, the identity of the victim is still unclear.

The cherokee county's sheriff office and the state's fire marshall office are both participating in the investigation.
