King Jack Park Construction
WEBB CITY, MO.--- Crews from the Environmental Protection Agency are almost finished filling in an overgrown swamp area at King Jack Park in Webb City. Once that is complete, the area once known as "Webb Lake" will be capped with clay and covered with a layer of dirt and grass.
A 60-foot wide road that leads to the edge of "Sucker Flat" is also being built. It will be used to haul gravel and mine rock to fill the pit. The parks director says the reclaimed area will be a benefit to the park.
"It looks like an opportune area for us to have some concerts in the slope of the hill. It will afford us the opportunity to put in some nice trees and picnic tables," said Tom Reeder, Parks Director.
The project is expected to be complete in 2 years.
