JOPLIN, MO.--- The City of Joplin saw a 24% increase in sales tax receipts this month. That means revenue is up almost 10% year to date. It's a difference of $234,000 in the general sales tax alone.
City workers say the total this month is tied to sales conducted in December, which likely means buying levels last Christmas stayed steady with those increases seen after the tornado in 2011.
