Seneca Police See Increasing Arrests

watch video

JOPLIN, MO-- Seneca police say they are seeing big changes in tracking down law breakers. In calls-for-service, the total more than doubled from the first half of 2012 to the last. The number of arrests nearly tripled. And drug related crime is a big part of that, going from just two suspects charged January through June, to nearly 30 in the last 6 months.

Seneca Police Chief James Altic said, "If they're going to come here and do that, we're going to give them our undivided attention, and they're getting that. And they can go somewhere else and do it or they can go to jail, but they're not going to do it here. And that's just the stance, we have zero tolerance."

James Altic was named Seneca police chief last summer and says since then, drug related crime has been a top priority.
