Evelyn Dorris Benefit
JOPLIN -- People of all ages jammed out at the Hideout Harley Davidson in Joplin Saturday to support Evelyn Dorris. She was diagnosed with inoperable terminal colon cancer at the end of January. The event included both a live and silent auction with food and music to help Dorris pay for her rising medical costs. Evelyn lost her medical insurance when her illness forced her to quit her job. She is about to start chemotherapy and says she is thankful to everyone who is supporting her.
"I never expected anything like this health-wise to begin with," Evelyn says. "But what they have done, the girls got together, my three daughters, I just appreciate all of it. It's been so overwhelming."
"A smile, happiness and just letting her know that everybody cares," says Dorris's son-in-law Dennis Brisco. "We just want her to know that people do care about her and that's the main thing."
